In 2006, Rock N Roll Worship Circus made the metamorphosis to a new identity as The Listening. Since then, the band has undergone many changes and are finally ready to embark on the next chapter of their musical pursuits. On October 28th, the band will release their new EP, Transmission #1. The four song EP, produced by Tedd T. (MuteMath, Newsboys, Delirious), is now up for preorder here, for only $4.99. Also visit the band's newly redesigned MySpace page to hear clips of all four songs. Below is their latest update "transmission" released today...
"Captains Log 10/16/08I feel a sense of overwhelming excitement, a surge of momentum. For nearly a week we were holed up in a small church outside of Birmingham, hours and days were spent as we prepared for our first launch in nearly 2 years. The Sharps and The Crossing were wonderful hosts--to which we owe a world of thanks, and without whom this tour and this chapter of The Listening would not be possible. 16 LED's fined tuned, LCD's with pixels in place, a Projector filled with content, and 3 MacBooks powering the operation, we packed up and set out after many nights with little sleep.
Our landing in Nashville was without our visual presentation due to a shortened club set--yet the music was magical. Jason on the lights, thank you Jason. Brilliant and captivating.
Our next evening in Chicago proved more than successful as fans and friends from old and new joined us for our first transmission of visual elements. The evening was cradled by a beautiful peace, a stillness and quiet. Though I must admit, our last two songs were anything but still. After the evening's set, we joined nearly 25 fans and friends for dinner at Lou's in downtown Naperville. Dinner parties are becoming a regular event after the shows. Look to join us for dinner in your town, too :)
Kansas City played host to two sets. Our first evening saw us opening for Dan Evans from NBC's "Biggest Loser" and Between the Trees, all a part of the To Write Love on Her Arms Tour. Our second night was all our own. Both very special evenings, and both unique. I must say, Sunday evening was one of the more profound evenings of 2008. During a rendition of the old RRWC opus "Open the Gates", something special happened. In the words of the famous theologian of tone Jonathan Sharp, "all of the light in the room attached itself" to the glorious presence of God. And this was Sunday's finest moment.
We've been invited back to Kansas City on a moment's notice. We'll be there again on October 25th, and we would be pleased and honored if you would join us. There will be a dinner party at Gates BBQ after the show, which is only two blocks from the venue on Main Street. We look forward to sharing a meal with any of you who may want to join us.
Until then, it is off to Oklahoma--Tulsa, to be exact. Evergreen will host The Listening's first ever transmission from Tulsa. We shall see you there...
